Louise Lalande (1834-1890) - Two dogs at the stop

Large oil on canvas signed and dated "Louise Lalande 1884". The canvas is framed in a beautiful frame with gilt wood channels from the XIXth century.
The painting was exhibited at the Salon des Artistes Français in 1884 under number 1372.
Louise Lalande (1834-1890) is a naturalist painter from Le Mans. She was a student of Joseph Urbain MELIN. She began at the salon in 1864. A characteristic work of her production, "Chiens en arrest" is kept at the Le Mans museum.
Its impressive size, the quality of painting and its knowledge of canine morphology, make it a masterpiece for the artist.
