Formidable white marble group with fine grains in round bump , representing a naked Nymph dominating an erect Satyr.
Scene of Antique inspiration around the loves of the gods , the group is inspired freely by an engraving of Giolio Bonasone , the Satyr and the Nymph realized around 1530;
This iconography is inscribed in the tradition of erotic subjects of the 18th century.
Often treated in painting or drawing, this theme is almost absent in sculpture. The softness of the marble processing is characteristic of Italian productions but the short canon of the Nymph evokes more a Flemish influence.
