Important pair of bergères

Stamped Etienne Meunier - Epoque Louis XV.
A flat back in natural walnut, moulded and carved, resting on cambered legs ending in scrolls. The curved waistband is decorated at the centre and at the top of the legs with floral motifs and supports slightly whipped arm brackets. The shoulder of the backrest is underlined by a small acanthus leaf and decorated with flowers in the centre.

Etienne Meunier was one of the most renowned joiners of the first half of the 18th century.
He supplied chairs to a number of merchants, including Pierre Migeon.
His stamp appears on some fine Louis XV chairs, with discreet curves and little carving.
