18th-century marble bichon

Rare and beautiful carved marble dog. He stands with his front paws on a round padded cushion. Olage with long hair, beautiful drooping tail. He stands on a rectangular base with cut sides.
This dog was a favorite at the French court in the first half of the 18th century.

Having been outdoors, there is some wear to the marble.
