Carved and gilded gueridon with a Pietra Dura top, Rome around 1840

Beautifully carved and gilded baluster on a round base plate with four splayed bracket feet. The entire base is masterfully carved, partly openwork. The original version was consolidated, preserved and minimally altered during the recent restoration.
The marble top has a central field with a fleur-de-lis and an artichoke. This is surrounded by a large frame decorated with conglomerates.
A typical Roman work from the mid 19th century.
