Pair of large molded and sculpted armchairs with flat backs in solid walnut.
The violin-shaped upper part; the hectic armrests "in a whiplash", the molded and scalloped belts.
Arched legs, turbulent backrests, decorated with finely carved flowers, which can be found as a reminder on the low crosspieces.
Perfect state of preservation.
The barrels cleaned, treated and patinated by our cabinetmaker; the trimmings (natural horsehair and straps) and blankets (Louis XV lampas) restored by our upholsterer.
Lyonnais work from the Louis XV period around 1750, attributable to Pierre Nogaret.*

Although not stamped, our pair of armchairs can be attributed with certainty to master carpenter Pierre Nogaret.
In addition to the walnut essence used and the characteristic line, with its "whiplash" armrests, our armchairs have an attribution criterion that is worth signing.
Indeed the presence of a "whistle pin" on the side crosspiece of the belt is exclusive to the productions of the great master.

Pierre NOGARET (1718-1771), received Master carpenter in Lyon in June 1745.
Pierre Nogaret, famous master in provincial seats, stamped "Nogaret A Lyon". This Parisian chose to settle in Lyon. A seat by his hand can be recognized at a glance: a subtle interplay of curves and counter-curves, a typical, very flared armrest, a whiplash console, a set of mouldings. Balance and nervousness, elegance and movement, are the terms that come up most often to define his style. Finally, irreproachable quality in construction, in the choice of species and the care given to the connecting elements ensure that its productions stand up well to the test of time. The influence of Tilliard and Cresson, one for the line, the other for the sculpture, proves that Nogaret mastered the know-how of the Parisian masters.
