Cuban mahogany chest of drawers - Saint-Malo 18th century

Chest of drawers in solid Cuban mahogany.

Capped with a tray around the edge highlighted by a cavet beak and made of a single large board, it opens with three drawers on three rows interspersed with wide crossbars. Characteristic feature of the beautiful Malouines, in addition to its keyholes and typical handles in cast brass elegantly cut to highlight the polished Cuba, our chest of drawers has curved uprights highlighted by a graceful elegi or throat and punctuated with feet equine ribbed and hemmed with stripes reminiscent of the endings of the animal hair and finally smooth sides said "pillow". As for a Malouin chest of drawers of our old collections (figure 4 in documentation) the removable tray is fitted by two large cleats fixed under the tray, here pegged in the facing of the tray, and joined by two long pegs crossing the upper boards of the sides, just below the tray.
The contained curves and the fluid lines of this chest of drawers make it a beautiful classic from Saint-Malo, evolving between the Regency crossbow model and the Louis XV model.

Front, top and sides of the furniture in solid mahogany, front in speckled (rare use in Saint-Malo), drawer bottoms and back in beech. Very nice original condition of the furniture, no notable graft to report, missing locks.
The piece of furniture has been entirely revised (back, slides restored, back restored with replacement of the bottom rail) and can be appreciated in the superb patina that has been done in filled-wax.

Work of Saint-Malo of the 18th century.
