Right leaf of a diptych - The Crucifixion, Gothic period

Right leaf of diptych: the Crucifixion.
Middle of the XIVth century,

The plate is surrounded by a flat border. Traces of the charnieres on the left. The Crucifixion is sheltered under a series of three arches, the tympanums of which are underlined by leafy hooks; trefoil motifs are champleted in the spandrels.
The iconography of the Crucifixion is essentially traditional. Christ, fixed on a cross, is surrounded by the fainting Virgin, supported by two women on the left. On the right, on the other hand, we can see Saint John, accompanied by two figures wearing Jewish caps, one of whom is holding a phylactery.
The style of the leaflet is not Parisian but suggests the work of the Meuse. Indeed, the small round faces of the women characterize the productions of northeastern France.
