Middle of 16thC. St John the Baptist in Oak wood with traces of polychromy

Middle of 16th C. Saint John the Baptist. Statue in carved oak wood with traces of polychromy. He is carrying the lamb on his left hand and the cross (missing) in his rigth hand. He is dressed in a tunic with squared decoration and on his left shoulder, a cape with wide pleats hung to his belt on the rigth. The expressive face, with hair and beard finely curled, looks determinated. From Champagne ?
