Games table stamped B. Lieutaud Régence period

A rare amaranth, ebony and ivory veneered game table. The rectangular removable top, molded and encircled by a discontinuous baguette, features an ebony and ivory chessboard in an ebony surround. The reverse is sheathed in antique black leather. The tray reveals a tri-trac set inlaid with triangles in tinted ivory and au naturel on an ebony veneer base. The rim is ringed with bone and ivory circles for counting the points. Each side has a drawer with compartments secured by a push-button. The belt is slightly curved. It stands on four high curved legs.

Ornamented with chased and gilded bronzes such as: falls of female masks topped with acanthus leaves and finished with a descent of flowers and foliage, hooves set with foliage and scrolls, female masks topped with a palmette with knotted braids and ribbons, diamond-shaped escutcheons, hanging pull hands on rosette attachments.

Attributed to François Lieutaud, active between 1700 and 1748
Stamped by Balthazar Lieutaud, master in 1749.
