Kobako – Gold lacquer box of traditionnal boat, Japan Edo

Kobako – – Unusual and beautiful shape for a lacquer box. Gold urushi lacquer of traditionnal boat. This model opens by the top as a lid. The top of the lid is imitating the straw of a roof and the base of the boat are decorated according to the traditional technique of Mokume (aventurine with a veined / wavy gold background, imitated the wood). Nashiji lacquer inside. Dimensions : 4,2 x 22 cm (with the paddle). Japan Edo (1603-1868) 18th century.
