Offered by Callea Antichità
Sculptor probably active in France in the late nineteenth century.
The sculpture depicts a particularly famous subject by Jean-Baptiste Carpeaux (1827-1875), entitled "Le Rieur napolitain", but bears on the back the initials "A.C.".
We believe that this is an unidentified sculptor who made a marble version of the sculpture of Carpeaux probably in great demand at the time.
We also have at your disposal in the catalog the sculpture that depicts the "Le Rieuse napolitain", always in marble, or the portrait of the Neapolitan girl and that was usually in pairs.
The material is white statuary marble, there are small visible chippings in the photos.
Measures 34 x 30 cm - height 51 cm
