A true 16th century gem that impresses with its extraordinary strength, austere elegance and stylistic perfection. Time has worked as masterfully as the author and the result is truly surprising. The Cassina presents all the inimitable characteristics of the rare and magnificent authentic furnishings of the 16th century which are too often confused with the copious 19th century re-editions.
The case is entirely sculpted with rich decorations on both the front and sides.
The two lateral pilasters enclose a single central panel. On the sides are depicted two splendid typically Renaissance masks.
The base is exceptional and consists of an important pod with a serrated frame underneath and a further apron on three sides that joins the support feet.
His condition is excellent.
All the sculpting remained intact.
Some old restoration interventions included the restoration of the hinges and the consolidation of the lid.
