A scene of great "Phatos" that fascinates and excites the viewer, and which makes him participate in the inner anguish of the young protagonist.
The Magdalene observes the Crucifix in a moment of intimate recollection, and converses directly with her beloved Christ.
The Saint is depicted sitting inside a cave.
The flame of her candle illuminates her face portrayed in profile, and a splendid play of light and shadow emphasizes the folds of her clothes.
The crucifix is enveloped in light and meets the adoring gaze of the Magdalene.
The setting inside a cave is typical of French works that depict the Saint according to the tradition of her who wants to spend the last thirty years of her life in a Provence forest.
The panel is in excellent condition and impressive despite its small size thanks also to the large coeval frame
