Dressing table Writing desk in marquetry stamped J.G Schlichtig - 18th century

Lovely dressing table / writing desk from the Transition period inlaid with rosewood, rosewood, plum, satin and tinted wood fillets.
It rests on a curved base fitted with gilded bronze clogs.
The top, the front as well as the sides present a magnificent geometric decoration in marquetry of alternating braces of small trompe-l'oeil cubes whose craftsmanship offers a vision in relief.
The top formed by three flaps reveals a mirror in the center and two side compartments.
It opens on the front with four drawers as well as a large drawer and a leather-trimmed writing drawer.
The back is in solid cherry wood and bears the J. G SCHLICHTIG stamp for Jean-Georges Schlichtig on the left rear upright.
Of German origin, Jean-Georges Schlichtig is a Parisian cabinetmaker received Master on October 2, 1765. He worked for Queen Marie Antoinette and distinguished himself for his inlaid, sober furniture, mainly Transition and Louis XVI and of good quality cabinetmaking.
